About Freeza

The Maroondah Freeza Group is a personal development program for young people aged 15-25 years of age who live, work or study in Maroondah. This program is part of the State Government’s Freeza Program and focuses on interactive personal development and group skills through the organisation of drug, alcohol and smoke free cultural events for all ages.

Being a participant in the Maroondah Freeza Group requires a large commitment from its members to make sure the program runs effectively and the program objectives are achieved. Throughout the course of the program, all participants will be trained in a broad range of skills including Sound and Lighting, Teamwork & Effective Communication, Event Management, Networking, Professionalism, Budgeting, Fire Warden training and Occupational Health and Safety.  Participants will be trained to develop and deliver a minimum of 8 events throughout the year, including management of the audio and visual systems at EV’s Youth Centre.

The group meets for 2 hours every Tuesday and members also do a number of other jobs throughout the week as required. Maroondah Freeza Group members are involved in all aspects of planning, co-ordinating and working at the events. The group is facilitated by two Youth Programs Worker who co-ordinates the program and provides relevant resources and support.
