The Maroondah Festival began in 1990, and was known as the Croydon Festival. Over the years, the Festival has adapted and changed both in dates and locations, and is now held at Town Park, Croydon on the first Sunday after Melbourne Cup Day. Over 20,000 people come along to the Maroondah Festival, making it one of the biggest community events in Melbourne and a key event on the Melbourne cultural calendar.
Maroondah Youth Services run a Youth Space at the festival every year, offering a variety of activities, information and volunteering opportunities.
Some of the amazing things that MYS offered at Festival 2016 included;
* A diverse line up of young emerging artists on stage, ranging from Rock, Indie, Acoustic, Folk, Hip Hop and DJ's
* A range of free interactive activities including arts and crafts
* Op shop 'Op Drop' run by the young volunteers, all funds raised were donated to 'Save a Dog'.
