SWAT - Student Wellbeing Action Teams

SWAT (formerly Young Leaders) is a long running, successful development program for a select group of senior school students from across the City of Maroondah.

With a strengthened focus on wellbeing, we are altering the program to include a 1 day SWAT Summit and 3 day SWAT Retreat.

During the Summit, students will be provided with insight to help identify potential actions to increase the wellbeing of young people. They will then be supported within their schools in terms 3 and 4 to use their leadership skills to implement their chosen ‘wellbeing action’.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a greater representative opportunity with Maroondah City Council to assist in increasing the inclusion and wellbeing of young people within the wider Maroondah community.

The program is open to 25 Year 10 & VCAL students from all schools across Maroondah. Each school is able to nominate up to 3 students who are deemed suitable.

The aim of SWAT is to encourage young people to identify their strengths and to empower them to become champions for change.

Program dates

SWAT Summit - Tuesday the 28th of March at Aquinas College

SWAT Retreat - Monday the 8th - Wednesday the 10th of May at the Presentation Family Centre, Balnarring.
