School Focused Youth Service (SFYS) is a state wide initiative funded by the Department of Education and Training (DET). The program operates in partnership with the Catholic Education Office and Independent Schools Victoria.
In November 2015 it was announced that the School Focused Youth Service would be refunded for a further 2 years until the end of 2017.
Through School Focused Youth Service (SFYS), schools and community organisations work together to support young people aged 10-18 years who are attending school, but are vulnerable to or showing signs of disengagement from school, to remain connected to education. SFYS is available across all school sectors (government, Catholic and independent) in Victoria.
SFYS providers deliver and/or connect schools to a wide range of services, including direct interventions for young people, capacity building for school staff and partners, and local planning to identify and address disengagement.
The new guidelines are attached below.
